The Story of Port Gamble: A Rich Journey Through History

The story began in 1853, when two strong-willed and smart businessmen: Andrew Jackson Pope and Frederick Talbot, from East Machias, Maine ventured west aboard the steamship Oregon.

Port Gamble WA Historic MuseumWhether a history buff or a curious visitor, the Port Gamble Historic Museum has something for everyone. Stroll through actual furnished settings and experience the dynamic story of Port Gamble. Learn about the founders of this National Historic Landmark and the lives of those who lived, worked and played here and helped write its story. There are many heirlooms, artifacts, and photographs from the early 1800's.

Museum Hours and Fees

Fees:
Adults: $4.00
Students/Seniors/Military: $3.00
Family/Group Discount of 6 or more: 20% off when paying for group as a whole
Children six and under free

Museum Hours:
May 1st through October 31st: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. November 1st through April 30th; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday/Saturday/Sunday and major Monday holidays.

The museum is available for group tours or private parties. Research and archive photography services are available upon request at a rate of $25/hour.
